Most photos of Devdari online are years old, low resolution or taken from the same spot. We want to show visitors what the waterfall really looks like today, in every season. We are looking for photographers and videographers, professional or serious amateur, who can supply high-quality photos and RAW, unedited video of Devdari and the other places of interest in and around Chakia and Chandauli. We pay for work that is your own and has not been shared anywhere else.
Send us a preview on WhatsApp
Share a few low-resolution previews and tell us what you have. We reply with an offer before you send any full files.
What we are looking for
In short: professional-quality photos and RAW, unedited video of the places visitors come to see. We want the original files as they came out of the camera, not finished edits, so we can crop, grade and cut them to fit the website, our videos and social media.
- Photos: sharp, well-composed, high-resolution images. RAW files (such as CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG or RAF) are preferred, with the matching camera JPEG if you have it.
- Video: the original, unedited clips straight from the camera, drone or phone. No cuts, colour grading, music, text or transitions. 4K is preferred; flat or LOG profiles are welcome.
- Coverage: wide establishing shots, close details, and views from every viewpoint, so a visitor can picture the whole place.
Places we want covered
| Place | What we need |
|---|---|
| Devdari Waterfall | Our top priority. The falls from every viewpoint, the gorge and river, the stepped cascade, the approach path, parking and entry, in every season and especially in full monsoon flow. |
| Rajdari Waterfall | The falls, the rock shelves above, the viewing areas and the route between Rajdari and Devdari. |
| Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary | Forest landscapes, the roads through the sanctuary, wildlife, birds, vultures on the cliffs, and the forest rest houses. |
| Latif Shah Dam & Tomb | The reservoir, the dam in monsoon overflow, the palm-lined banks, and the shrine of Hazrat Latif Shah (respectfully, and only where photography is allowed). |
| Chakia Kali Mandir | The temple and its surroundings, and festival crowds at Ramnavami, only where photography is allowed. |
| Chakia, Naugarh and the Kaimur hills | Other waterfalls, viewpoints, lakes, villages, markets and scenic roads in the area that visitors could combine with a Devdari trip. |
| The route from Varanasi and DDU | Key junctions, road conditions, signboards, roadside dhabas and places to stop, to help visitors plan the drive. |
Types of shots
- Devdari in full monsoon flowThe falls at their most powerful, July to September. Our most wanted shots.
- Devdari through the seasonsThe same falls in winter, spring and summer, so visitors know what to expect each month.
- Short video clipsSteady 10 to 60 second clips of the falls, the gorge and the river. Horizontal for the website, vertical for reels.
- Wildlife and birdsAnimals and birds of Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary, photographed from a respectful distance.
- The journeyThe road through the forest, the entry gate, parking, viewpoints and paths, so first-time visitors can find their way.
- Nearby attractionsRajdari Waterfall, Latif Shah Dam in overflow, Chakia Kali Mandir and other places around Chakia.
- Local food and lifeRoadside dhabas, tea stalls and village life on the way, with permission from the people in the photo.
- Light and weatherSunrise, mist in the gorge, rain clouds over the cliffs and golden evening light.
How it works
- Message us on WhatsApp. Tap the button on this page and a message is filled in for you. Tell us where and when the photos or videos were taken.
- Send small previews. A few screenshots or low-resolution copies are enough at this stage. Please do not send full-size files yet.
- Get an offer. We tell you which shots we would like to buy and what we will pay for each one. Nothing is agreed until you say yes.
- Agree the terms in writing. We confirm the price, the files and the exclusive rights in a short WhatsApp message, so both sides have a record.
- Send the original files. Share them through a Google Drive or WeTransfer link, because WhatsApp shrinks photos and videos.
- Get paid. Once we have received and checked the full files, we pay you the agreed amount by UPI or bank transfer.
- See your work on the site. We credit you by name, or keep you anonymous if you prefer.
What we pay
We agree a price for each photo or video clip before you send anything. There are no fees to sell to us and you never pay us anything. The price depends on:
- How useful the shot is to visitors. A clear view of the falls in full flow is worth more than a general forest scene.
- Rarity and timing. Peak monsoon flow, rare wildlife and unusual weather are hard to capture and we pay more for them.
- Quality. Sharp, well-exposed, high-resolution files and steady video.
- Video length and variety. Several usable clips from different angles are worth more than one short clip.
- A set of photos. A full set covering the falls, the viewpoints and the route can be bought together for one agreed price.
If we decide not to buy, you keep all rights to your work and we delete the previews.
What "exclusive" means
We pay for photos and videos that nobody else has. When you sell a photo or video to us:
- It must not already be published anywhere: not on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps, Wikimedia Commons, stock photo sites or any other website.
- After the sale, you agree not to publish, sell or license it to anyone else. Devdari.com may use it on this website, our social media pages and in promotional material.
- You may keep a copy for your own records, and you can ask us in advance if you would like to show it in a personal portfolio. We agree any exceptions in writing before we pay.
- You still get the credit. Unless you ask to stay anonymous, we name you next to your work and in our photo credits.
File requirements
| Photos | RAW files preferred (CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF and similar), plus the camera JPEG if available. At least 3000 px on the long side; 20 MP or more is ideal. Location and date information left in the file. |
|---|---|
| Videos | Original, unedited camera files (MP4, MOV and similar). 4K preferred, at least 1080p (Full HD). Flat or LOG profiles welcome. Steady footage on a tripod, gimbal or stabilised drone. Clips of 10 to 60 seconds work best; longer takes are fine. |
| Sound | Natural sound of the waterfall and forest is a bonus. Keep the original audio track; do not add music. |
| Orientation | Horizontal (landscape) for the website. Vertical (portrait) clips are welcome too, for social media. |
| Editing | None, please. We want the files as they came out of the camera: no filters, colour grading, cuts, text, logos, watermarks, borders or added music. |
| Authenticity | Real photos and footage only. No AI-generated, AI-enhanced or composited images. |
| Sending | Previews on WhatsApp; full files through a Google Drive or WeTransfer link. |
Rules we will not bend
- Your own work only. You must have taken every photo and video yourself. Never send someone else's work, or pictures copied from the internet.
- Safety first. No shot is worth your life. Do not go near cliff edges, enter the water, climb wet rocks or stand in fast-flowing streams to get a picture. We will not buy photos that show or encourage unsafe behaviour. Read our Safety & Rules.
- Respect the sanctuary. Devdari is inside Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary. Follow Forest Department rules, stay on paths, do not disturb or feed animals, and never use baiting or flash on wildlife.
- Drones need permission. Flying a drone in a wildlife sanctuary normally needs permission from the Forest Department, and Indian drone rules apply. We only buy drone footage if you can show the flight was permitted.
- People need to agree. If someone can be recognised in your photo or video, they must be happy for it to be published. Avoid close-ups of children unless a parent agrees.
Questions
Do I need to be a professional photographer?
We are looking for professional-quality work, usually shot on a DSLR, mirrorless camera or drone. You do not need to be a full-time professional: serious amateurs and local photographers are welcome, and an exceptional shot from a high-end phone may still be bought if the quality is there.
Why do you want RAW and unedited files?
RAW photos and unedited video keep all the detail the camera captured. That lets us crop for different screen sizes, match colours across the site, and cut clips for the homepage, guides and social media. A finished edit with filters or music is much harder to reuse.
Can I be commissioned for a shoot?
Yes. If you are based near Chandauli, Chakia or Varanasi, tell us. We may ask you to photograph Devdari in a particular season, or cover a place we are missing, for a price agreed in advance.
Can I sell photos I took a few years ago?
Yes, as long as they have never been published and you tell us roughly when they were taken. Recent photos are more useful, because the site and the facilities change over time.
I already posted the photo on Instagram. Can I still sell it?
Not as an exclusive. We only pay for unpublished work. If you have other shots from the same visit that you have not posted, send us those.
How much will I be paid?
It depends on the shot. We look at your previews and make an offer for each photo or clip before you send any full files. You are free to say no.
How and when do I get paid?
By UPI or bank transfer, after we have received the full files and checked that they match the previews and the requirements on this page.
Will my name appear on the website?
Yes, if you want it to. We credit you next to your photo and in the photo credits. You can also choose to stay anonymous.
Can I send photos of places other than Devdari?
Yes, if they are nearby: Rajdari Waterfall, Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary, Latif Shah Dam, Chakia and the route from Varanasi. Devdari itself remains our top priority.
Can I just share a photo for free?
Of course. If you would rather share a photo with credit and no payment, see Share your photos on the gallery page.
Ready to sell your photos or videos?
Send us a WhatsApp text message with a few previews and a line about where and when you took them. We reply to every message. Please do not call; we only answer text messages.
